Macquarie ICT Innovations Centre Presents
COMING OCTOBER 2011
Become an avatar flying through a 3D landscape, compete in video game challenges, chat with Goose from ABC TVs Good Game or listen to experts in a debate about game culture. Join 3dedrats and play with virtual worlds, robots and video games during the month of October.
At the world-first festival celebrating the latest 3D technologies in education, arts and sciences 3dedrats offers free and ticketed events around Sydney including Macquarie University and Sydney College of the Arts. The general public, K-12 students and their families are invited to explore world-first interactive exhibitions, participate in live events, enter competitions and discover innovative technologies.
3dedrats is one of the premiere events in the NSW calendar and individuals, families and schools are encouraged to join us and help build a vision for the future of Australian education.
The largest 3D arts festival in NSW, 3dedrats is hosted by the Macquarie ICT Innovations Centre (an innovative partnership between Macquarie University and the NSW Department of Education and Communities). The festival is an exciting opportunity to get hands on experience with cutting-edge technologies.
The 3dedrats festival opens on 5th October with the WHEN2050 exhibition which is part of the Sydney Architecture Festival held at Sydney College of the Arts. See future architectural designs and interact with innovative 3D artworks. Walk or fly around the students’ virtual world using Kinect and experience the intricate designs in full 3D.
Students in Year 10 at Dulwich High School of Visual Arts and Design explored 3D virtual worlds to design and construct architectural prototypes for Australian cities. The student artists, mentored by Richard Goodwin and Russell Lowe, created works reflecting Australia’s contribution to the 12th International Architectural Exhibition in Venice, at the Venice Biennale 2010.
Another highlight of 3dedrats festival is GAME – a three day celebration of games and video game culture ending with the spectacular GAME ON! all day public event.
Join Goose from ABCTV’s Good Game, play arcade games, build in a Minecraft multiplayer world, experience all things Kinect including Dance Central crowd dancing, participate in game design challenges, play incredible indie games and meet the developers, join discussions on how to break into the game industry. GAME ON will also be running parent sessions to explore contemporary issues relating to game culture.
